Win Methods
Dmitry Bivol owns the win that made boxing gasp: the 2022 masterclass over Canelo Álvarez, delivered with a jab and a poise that made the sport's biggest star look ordinary for twelve rounds. It wasn't an upset built on one punch — it was a technician methodically winning every meaningful exchange.
The Kyrgyzstan-born Russian is the purest boxer at 175: textbook balance, a piston jab, combinations thrown in bursts and closed with the back foot already repositioning. Only 12 of his 25 wins are knockouts, and it doesn't matter — Bivol wins rounds the way metronomes keep time.
His rivalry with Artur Beterbiev finally gave the era its defining light heavyweight series: a razor-thin loss in their first undisputed clash, avenged in the 2025 rematch that made Bivol undisputed champion himself. Two future Hall of Famers, two nights of the highest-level boxing 175 has seen in decades.
Now 35 and holding the IBF and WBO belts, Bivol remains what he has always been: the man nobody at light heavyweight — or super middleweight, as Canelo learned — actually wants to fight.
