Nobody hands you anything at heavyweight. Jailton Almeida — "Malhadinho" to fight fans — has built a 22-5 record the hard way, one fight at a time since leaving Brazil's regional scene.
Wrestling is the skeleton key here — 5.6 takedowns a round on average. Everything opponents want to do standing gets interrupted, smothered, and dragged to the canvas. Add a 79" reach, and the puzzle gets harder still.
The last fight went to Rizvan Kuniev (Decision - Unanimous) — a setback, and the interesting question is always what a fighter does with one.
