Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez is the best pure talent the little divisions have produced in a generation. The San Antonio southpaw became a world champion at 22 — taking the WBC super flyweight title on five days' notice, in a weight class above his own, and winning going away against a future Hall of Fame class of opposition.

The résumé at 115 and 112 reads like a hit list: Carlos Cuadras, Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, Sunny Edwards, Juan Francisco Estrada, Pedro Guevara — champions and legends, most of them beaten more decisively than anyone had ever managed. The Sor Rungvisai fight remains the signature: a feared puncher dismantled and stopped in eight one-sided rounds.

Trained by Robert Garcia and raised in a fighting family, Bam pairs the aesthetics — slick southpaw angles, vicious body work — with a finisher's temperament the smaller weight classes rarely see. Opponents don't survive his best rounds; they get counted out in them.
