Nobody hands you anything at bantamweight. Lawrence Lui — "Lok Yin" to fight fans — has built a 8-1 record the hard way, one fight at a time since leaving New Zealand's regional scene.

The game is built on grappling: 5.3 takedowns per 15 minutes, and opponents spend rounds defending instead of fighting. Once it hits the mat, the fight tends to stay there.

He arrives on a 5-fight win streak — most recently Sulangrangbo, Decision - Split. Streaks like that don't stay unnoticed for long.
