Abdi Iniestra Lands Yair Rodriguez Buzzer-Beater Elbow in Mexico

The 21-year-old flyweight dropped Anthony Ramirez with a reverse elbow with three seconds left at Lux Fight League 63 — a near-perfect tribute to one of MMA's wildest finishes.

Yair Rodriguez's last-second elbow on The Korean Zombie is the kind of finish most fighters never even dare to try, let alone pull off. At Lux Fight League 63 in Queretaro, Mexico, 21-year-old flyweight Abdi Iniestra did exactly that — timing a reverse elbow to perfection and catching Anthony Ramirez flush on the jaw with just three seconds left on the clock.

It's a strike so improbable that watching it land twice in MMA history feels like a glitch. Rodriguez's version against Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Night in November 2018 remains one of the sport's most replayed knockouts. Iniestra's homage was close enough to the original to make you do a double-take, buzzer-beating drama included.

A Card Worth Rewinding

Iniestra wasn't the only prospect doing damage in Queretaro. Earlier on the Lux 63 card, 24-year-old flyweight Reginald Jones pushed his record to 3-0 with a quick knockout of Tyrell Hill. For a young division still finding its stars on the regional scene, that's two finishes in one night worth filing away.

The knockout highlight reel didn't stop in Mexico. Over in Brazil at Jungle Fight 155 in Rio de Janeiro, Joao Miguel Monteiro spun Davi Pereira a full 180 degrees with a counter left hook. And at a Rajadamnern World Series card in Bangkok, Muay Thai's Amurlen Tugurov flattened Singburi with a spinning elbow that no referee was ever going to catch in time.

The amateur scene delivered its own brutality. At a Rising Stars Fight Series show in Ontario, Logan Froese dumped Abhimanyu Chadha with a slam from the shoulder, while in Chambery, France, Samuel Allard put Zakaria Zouine out cold with a textbook overhand right at a Duel Fighting event. Neither man saw a paycheck for the trouble.

The takeaway from a busy weekend across the combat-sports wilderness: the Pantera Elbow might not be a one-off after all. Iniestra, barely into his twenties, just proved the single most unlikely finish in modern MMA can be studied, timed and repeated — at least once more.
