Bob Arum Backs Fury to KO Joshua in Cardiff Battle of Britain
Top Rank's Arum says Fury (36-2-1) is simply the better boxer and has more left at 38 than a 37-year-old Joshua. They finally clash December 11.

Bob Arum isn't hedging. The Top Rank promoter expects Tyson Fury to stop Anthony Joshua when the two British heavyweights finally meet at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on December 11, with the WBA 'super' title and three-time world champion status on the line. Fury walks in ranked #3 at heavyweight with a 36-2-1 (25 KO) ledger; Joshua, now unranked, carries a 29-4 (26 KO) record into a fight roughly a decade in the making.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Arum argued Fury is the superior all-round boxer and, at 38, has more left in the tank than the 37-year-old Joshua. His verdict was blunt: he's looking for Fury to knock AJ out. Arum co-promotes Fury alongside Queensberry's Frank Warren, so the bias is baked in — but his pick isn't an outlier among big names weighing in.
Why Fury's the Favourite
The betting markets already lean heavily toward the Gypsy King, and recent form explains some of it. Fury's last two outings produced a points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov and a stoppage of Mariusz Wach — officially a seventh-round retirement — earlier this year. Not vintage, but tidy enough.
Joshua's most recent night was messier. He was dropped twice before rallying to finish Kristian Prenga in the second round back in July. For a man with 26 knockouts on his record, getting put on the canvas against that level of opposition is the kind of detail that shapes a narrative.
The Fight That Had to Happen
This is the bout that's haunted British boxing since the mid-2010s, repeatedly teased and repeatedly collapsing. Now, at 38 and 37, Fury and Joshua have run out of alternatives that make commercial sense. Each other is the only payday left that matters, and the saga finally gets its ending.
Fans wanting a genuine 50-50 will hope the age and mileage even things out. Arum clearly doesn't buy it. His read is simple: better boxer, more left, knockout. Whether the Cardiff crowd gets a war or a one-sided night, the wait is almost over.
