Ryan Garcia is still chasing the Gervonta Davis rematch, and Adrien Broner just told him it would end the same way it did in 2023. The four-weight former champion said flatly that Tank 'smokes' Garcia — a blunt verdict delivered to Garcia's face in a back-and-forth that's made the rounds online.

The numbers behind Davis explain the confidence. He carries a 30-0-1 record with 28 knockouts, sits #3 in the lightweight rankings, and dropped Garcia twice in their first meeting — once in round two, then again with a body shot in the seventh that ended it. Garcia couldn't beat the count. That's the fight Broner keeps pointing back to.

Garcia's counter has always been the same: the catchweight wrecked him. The pair met at 136lbs, and Garcia was only allowed a 10lb rehydration cap by fight morning. He insists a full-sized version of himself flips the script.

Two Very Different Years

The trouble for Garcia's argument is that the men have gone in opposite directions since. Garcia (25-2, 20 KO) has settled at welterweight, lifted the WBC title this year, and defended it with a second-round stoppage of Conor Benn (25-1, 14 KO). He's active, he's winning, and he's a champion again.

Davis, meanwhile, has fought twice since 2023 — a win over Frank Martin in 2024 and a majority draw with Lamont Roach Jr. in 2025. An exhibition with Jake Paul fell apart amid legal problems outside the ring, and Tank still hasn't booked a return, though one appears to be getting closer.

The Weight Problem

Here's the sticking point. Garcia says the teams have been in contact about a rematch, but he wants it at 147lbs. Davis has only ever gone as high as 140lbs, twice, and would walk in badly undersized against a natural welterweight. That gap could kill the fight before it's made.

Both men have cleaner options on the table. Garcia is reportedly in talks for a unification against Teofimo Lopez, while George Kambosos Jr. is the latest name floated for Davis. Broner can talk up a Tank beating all he wants — until someone solves the 11-pound problem, it stays a talking point.
