Contender Series Week 4 Preview: 10 More Fighters Chase UFC Deals

Dana White's Contender Series returns to the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on Tuesday, September 1, with 10 more fighters stepping into the Octagon for the chance at a UFC contract. Through three weeks of Season 10, the show has already produced 15 winners and, more importantly, a pipeline of talent that's starting to pay off at the highest level.

That's the part worth paying attention to. Two Season 10 graduates have already made their UFC debuts — and both won. Flyweight Bilal Hasan and heavyweight Anthony Wint didn't just survive the step up; they made statements. Week 4 gives another batch of prospects a shot at the same fast track.

The Graduates Are Already Delivering

Hasan is the kind of finisher the flyweight division doesn't see enough of. He's 10-0 with eight knockouts, and he carried that pressure straight into the UFC, stopping Nilson Rojas via second-round TKO in his debut. For a 125-pound fighter to bring that much stopping power is a genuine outlier, and it's exactly why the Contender Series matters as a scouting tool.

Wint's story is similar but at the opposite end of the scale. The unbeaten heavyweight is 8-0 with a balanced finishing profile — five KOs and two submissions — and he submitted Terrance Chatman in the first round of his UFC bow. Heavyweight is perpetually thin on legitimate prospects, so a 8-0 finisher walking in and tapping his opponent inside a round is the sort of thing that gets you fast-tracked.

Between them, Hasan and Wint validate the whole premise of the series: find undefeated finishers, throw them a real test, and see who's ready. So far, Season 10's early results say plenty of them are.

The Upset That Stole Week 3

If the graduates provided the reassuring headlines, Week 3 provided the chaos. Alex Apodaca beat Bella Mir in one of the biggest upsets in Contender Series history, toppling a fighter who came in as a staggering -6000 favorite.

Odds that steep are effectively a coronation. Books were pricing Mir as a near-lock, and Apodaca tore the script up anyway. It's the sort of result that reminds everyone why these shows are worth watching live rather than reading the recap the next morning.

What's Riding on Week 4

The math is simple for the 10 fighters on Tuesday's card. Win — ideally with the kind of finish White likes — and a UFC contract is on the table. Coast to a decision and the door can stay shut, no matter the verdict on the scorecards.

That's the brutal beauty of the Contender Series. Unlike a traditional card, winning isn't always enough. The series rewards fighters who force the issue, which is exactly why Hasan's KO and Wint's submission translated so cleanly to the big show.

For the audience, the value is in getting a first look at names that could be UFC mainstays in 18 months. Fifteen of them already have deals from this season alone, and the two who've fought since have gone 2-0. That's a strong hit rate for a talent-ID program.
