Ditcheva explained that the hand she broke at the end of last year needed surgery, and she was warned that skipping it left a real chance of another break. She rolled the dice, hoping the hand would hold. It didn't. By her own account, she's paying the price for that call now.

The timing hurts more than the injury. Ditcheva looked to be on a direct line toward PFL flyweight champion Liz Carmouche, with a shot penciled in for later this year.
