Dominick Reyes Crowns Dominick Cruz UFC's Best Commentator, Jabs DC Again
The #10 light heavyweight, fresh off a first-round KO of Azamat Murzakanov, praised the booth's best and told Daniel Cormier to cut the bias.

Dominick Reyes has a clear favorite in the commentary booth, and it happens to share his first name. The #10-ranked light heavyweight, who's 17-5 with 11 knockouts and coming off a first-round finish of Azamat Murzakanov, named Dominick Cruz as the UFC's best voice on the call. He's not short on competition for that title.
Reyes didn't stop at one name. He rated Jon Anik highly, called Laura Sanko amazing, and said he's a big fan of Paul Felder — a former lightweight contender himself at 17-6 with 10 KOs. But it's Cruz, the former bantamweight champ with a 24-4 ledger, who tops Reyes' list of analysts who actually get fans locked in.
The DC Caveat
Daniel Cormier got a more complicated review. Reyes credited the former two-division champ as well-spoken and genuinely skilled behind the mic, the kind of guy who draws fans into a broadcast. Then came the but: Reyes said Cormier can do better, and the fix is simple — drop the bias and keep it real.
The deeper point was a reminder that this isn't theater for the men inside the cage. Reyes stressed that commentators are talking about fighters' livelihoods, and that casually throwing out opinions carries weight. It reads less like a personal shot and more like a pro asking for accountability from the people narrating his career.
This isn't the first time Reyes has aired the DC critique, and the timing isn't accidental. He's back in the win column and firmly inside the top 10 at 205, a division where perception shapes matchmaking as much as results do. When you're climbing, the voices framing your fights matter.
Cruz, for his part, has had a rougher go in the Octagon lately — his last appearance ended in a fourth-round TKO loss to Marlon Vera — but his standing as an analyst has only grown. Reyes clearly sees the gap between what the booth does well and where it falls short, and he's not shy about marking both.
