Jaron Ennis has his next assignment lined up, and it's a big one. The undefeated Philadelphian — 36-0 with 32 knockouts — is set to face IBF super-welterweight champion Josh Kelly in a unification bout at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, with a target window of late November or December. No exact date is locked, but the venue and the matchup are reportedly done deals being finalized by Matchroom.

Ennis arrives as the WBA and WBO champion at 154lbs, a two-division unified titleholder after his seventh-round stoppage of Xander Zayas in June. That win over the previously unbeaten Puerto Rican cemented him as one of the sport's genuine must-watch attractions. Kelly, meanwhile, brings an 18-1-1 (9 KO) record and the IBF strap, meaning three of the four major belts will be on the line under one roof.

Why Kelly Is a Real Test

It's tempting to dismiss the Brit as a placeholder before the marquee names, but the numbers argue otherwise. Kelly dethroned the heavy-handed Bakhram Murtazaliev in January and followed it up with a hard-fought unanimous decision over Caoimhin Agyarko in July. That's two quality wins in a division stacked with danger. He's earned his shot the hard way.

The one wrinkle: Kelly picked up a nasty cut over the bridge of his nose against Agyarko, which had many questioning whether he'd even be cleared to fight again in 2026. Promoter Eddie Hearn is keen to stage the bout stateside, and the Atlanta booking suggests medical clearance is no longer the sticking point it looked like a couple of months ago.

The fourth belongs to WBC champion Sebastian Fundora, who first has a mandatory to clear against Ermal Hadribeaj on October 17. If 'The Towering Inferno' handles that business, an Ennis showdown becomes realistic in 2027.

There's also the Vergil Ortiz Jr grudge match a chunk of the fanbase keeps clamoring for — but that's not the road Ennis is walking right now.
