Ilias Bulaid vs Erick Visconde Scrapped From Contender Series Week 8

Dana White's Contender Series lost its opener before it even started. On Tuesday night at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, Week 8 of Season 10 was supposed to run five fights — instead it's down to four, after the featherweight bout between Ilias Bulaid (9-0, 1 NC) and Erick Visconde (17-3) got yanked hours before doors.

The promotion confirmed the postponement not long before the card kicked off, sliding the matchup back to Week 10. Bulaid had already made weight on Monday, but he reportedly fell ill before fight night, and that was that.

Visconde's coach, Chad George, got out ahead of the announcement. He noted the opponent pulled out roughly 20 minutes before the team was set to leave for the venue, leaving them to make the drive back to Los Angeles instead of fighting.

Two Résumés Worth Waiting For

Bulaid is the kind of prospect these shows are built to catch. A decorated kickboxer, he's carried MMA stops at Bellator and UAE Warriors and hasn't lost yet across nine pro bouts, with a lone no-contest the only blemish on the ledger. A clean win in front of the brass is usually a UFC contract; a two-week delay doesn't change the math.

Visconde brings the deeper file. The Brazilian veteran sits at 17-3 and picked up the vacant LFA featherweight title in May, which is exactly the sort of hardware that earns a Contender Series call. He's been in the game long enough that a rescheduled date barely registers as a setback.

So nobody's out of the mix — this is a pause, not a cancellation. Both men keep their shot at a UFC deal, just two weeks later than planned. Everyone at the APEX on Tuesday still got four fights and a chance to make an impression. Bulaid and Visconde just have to sit tight until Week 10.
