Jacobe Smith took care of business in Salt Lake City, flattening late-notice replacement Bruce Whitehead in 92 seconds on the UFC 332 prelims for his fourth win inside the Octagon. It was fast, clean and exactly what he promised — just not against the guy he'd spent two full training camps preparing to face.

That guy was Kevin Holland, who was originally slated to meet Smith back in July before a reported foot injury bumped the fight to UFC 332. Then Holland withdrew again, leaving Smith to deal with Whitehead (8-3, 2 KO, 3 SUB) instead. Smith wasn't gracious about it afterward, saying in blunt terms that he wants to "murder" Holland for the trouble.

Two Camps, Zero Fights

Smith's frustration is easy to trace. He claims Holland accepted the booking twice and bailed both times, forcing him to pause his plans outside of fighting to chase a matchup that never materialized. The kicker: Holland's foot is apparently still hurt, yet he's now scheduled to face Uros Medic at UFC 334 next month. Accepting a different opponent while ducking the original one is the kind of thing that lingers.

His message to Holland was direct — he'd better hope Medic finishes him, because if Holland wins, Smith says he's coming for him. And if it isn't Holland next, Smith extended the same warning to anyone else: step in the cage expecting to survive 15 minutes, and you're mistaken.

What the Win Actually Showed

Give Smith credit for adaptability. He said he walked in expecting a walk-off knockout, but when the striking got slick he dragged Whitehead to the mat and closed it out there instead. A finisher who can win it standing or on the ground is a problem for a welterweight division full of grinders.

The real story, though, is a grudge that keeps building without a single punch thrown between the two men. Holland's own night of reckoning comes at UFC 334 against Medic. Smith will be watching — and depending on how it goes, this feud may finally get the booking it's been chasing all year.
