Lauren Price Headlines Cardiff on Nov 20 With Kotaskova in the Way
The unified welterweight champ returns home 10-0 after undisputed talks with Mayer and Shields collapsed. Her opponent won just two rounds against Cameron in April.

Lauren Price finally has a date and a venue, just not the name she wanted. The unified welterweight champion returns to Cardiff on November 20 to headline a BBC Two card against Czech challenger Michaela Kotaskova, BOXXER confirmed. Price (10-0, 2 KO) hasn't lost a professional round that matters since turning over from Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020.
The problem isn't Price. It's who she couldn't land. An undisputed fight with Mikaela Mayer fell apart, and the long-rumored showdown with Claressa Shields never got close to paper. So instead of a career-defining night, the Welshwoman gets Kotaskova (12-1-2, 4 KO), a 34-year-old whose résumé reads like a European tour schedule more than a title run.
The Opponent Problem
Kotaskova's biggest win came last year over a 48-year-old Mikaela Lauren, and when she stepped up against Chantelle Cameron this past April she managed a grand total of two rounds across three judges' cards. That's the level of resistance Price is being asked to overcome at home. Kotaskova says she respects everything Price has built but is coming to Cardiff to take the belts anyway.
Price, for her part, leaned into the hometown pull. She said nothing beats fighting in Wales, that the Cardiff atmosphere is always special, and that she intends to prove she's the best welterweight on the planet. The messaging is confident, if a little stuck — she's a champion with wins over Jessica McCaskill and Natasha Jonas who keeps being handed opponents beneath her ceiling.
The Fight Worth Watching
The more competitive scrap sits on the undercard. Rhys Edwards (17-1-1, 4 KO) faces Lee McGregor (16-3-1, 11 KO) at featherweight, and that's a genuine crossroads bout. Edwards pushed Peter McGrail hard on short notice two years ago, cleanly beat Thomas Essomba, then drew with Gully Powar in an April British title bid. McGregor arrives looking like a man who's hit his limit after losses to Nathaniel Collins and Michael Gomez Jr.
None of this fixes Price's central issue. At 10-0 with elite amateur pedigree, she needs Mayer or Shields to validate the claim she keeps making. Until one of them signs, nights like November 20 are holding patterns dressed up as homecomings. A dominant win over Kotaskova won't change that calculus — but a flat one would.
For now, Cardiff gets its champion back, the BBC gets a free-to-air headliner, and Price gets another chance to look like the best welterweight alive against someone unlikely to seriously test the theory.
