Losene Keita wanted this fight, and now he's got it. The Guinea-born Belgian steps in against #12-ranked Aaron Pico at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on October 24, a short-notice booking that landed after Arnold Allen fell out of his scheduled meeting with Pico. Keita, 17-2 with 11 knockouts, says he actually called for the Pico-Allen winner at his last press conference — so when the UFC rang, he didn't blink.

That confidence tracks with where his UFC run sits right now. Keita debuted at UFC London in March against Nathaniel Wood and lost a decision in a flat, hesitant performance he admits surprised even himself. Then came September in Paris, where he blasted Muhammad Naimov with a first-round knockout — his sort of fight, and the one that made the European scene take notice all over again.

From OKTAGON to the Octagon

Keita isn't a prospect in the raw sense. He spent three years headlining and winning titles for OKTAGON in front of crowds he says reached 20,000, which is why the Wood result nagged at him. He reckons he overthought things, gave his opponent too much respect, and forgot he was walking in with roughly 20 pro fights of his own. Against Pico, he says the plan is simpler: be the real Keita, have fun, stop stressing about the other guy.

The Naimov finish traveled well on social media, but it was the celebration that really went viral — Keita bolting out of the Octagon to sit down and applaud his own work. He frames it as instinct rather than theatre, calling himself a fighter and a showman in the same breath. Either way, it's the version of him the UFC signed.

The Pico Problem

Pico is the kind of name that moves a resumé. The 14-5 featherweight, 9 of those wins by knockout, is coming off a unanimous-decision victory over Patricio Pitbull and has spent essentially his entire career under TV lights. That's a gift for short-notice prep — Keita says film was everywhere, and he's known Pico since he first started in MMA. Interesting footnote: Keita actually holds more pro fights than the man billed as the veteran here.

There's a bigger stage attached, too. UFC 333 is headlined by the featherweight title between Volkanovski and Evloev, and fighting on that card isn't lost on Keita, who has belt ambitions of his own. He's just not pretending he's ready for that conversation yet. Beat Pico first, then plot the next move — one he'd like to point toward an English contender. Prove the Paris version was the real one, and the division has to start paying attention.
