Nathaniel Wood Draws Debuting Pavel Andrusca in Paris Reshuffle

Nathaniel Wood has a new dance partner for Saturday. With four days to spare, Mairon Santos has pulled out of their featherweight bout at UFC Fight Night: Hooker vs. Parnasse due to illness, and undefeated UFC newcomer Pavel Andrusca steps in to make his promotional debut at the Accor Arena in Paris.

It's a genuine upgrade in violence if not in name recognition. Andrusca arrives with a spotless 8-0 record and has finished seven of those wins — five inside the opening round. Santos, meanwhile, was one of the more polished names on the card at 18-1 (9 KO), riding momentum off a third-round TKO of Muhammad Naimov.

What Wood Is Walking Into

For Wood, the switch flips a known quantity for a live wire. The 23-6 veteran (8 KO, 5 SUB) is the most experienced man in the matchup by a wide margin, and he arrives on the back of a split-decision win over Losene Keita. That's the kind of grind-it-out result that says his cardio and craft still hold up over 15 minutes.

The question is whether Andrusca can drag him into the deep water he clearly wants to avoid. Debutants with first-round finishing habits tend to swing for the fences early, and if Wood weathers the opening five minutes, his championship-round experience becomes the decisive edge. If he doesn't, well, that's how newcomers announce themselves.

The whole thing runs on a special early schedule for the US audience. Prelims kick off at 12pm ET/9am PT, with the main card following at 3pm ET/12pm PT, all streaming live on Paramount+.
