Two vacant-and-defended titles anchor the week of October 6-10. In Quebec City, Osleys Iglesias puts his IBF and IBO super middleweight straps on the line against Denmark's Oliver Zaren. In Chicago — a city that rarely gets a title night — 19-0 Floyd Schofield (13 KO) fights Canada's Lucas Bahdi for the vacant WBA lightweight belt once worn by Gervonta Davis.
Iglesias is the headline attraction for a reason. He's rated among the division's best on the eye test, and Zaren arrives undefeated, carrying the IBF's #5 ranking as his credential. Zaren's only blemish is a technical decision draw from an outdoor bout halted by a thunderstorm — hard to read too much into that. The real subtext: Iglesias is edging toward a mandatory and could be freed up for a marquee fight if he takes care of business here.
The Quebec Undercard Is Loaded
The chief support is another super middleweight scrap, with 21-year-old Canadian prospect Wilkens Mathieu facing Vladimir Shishkin — the same Shishkin who lost to Iglesias roughly a year ago before rebounding with a win. It's a genuine test of Mathieu's level, arguably steeper than anything 26-0 Diego Pacheco (19 KO), the division's #6, has faced at a comparable stage. Luis Santana vs. Dzmitry Asanau and Imam Khataev vs. Padraig McCrory round out a card worth the early tune-in.
Over in Chicago, Schofield headlines after a jagged 2025. He fell ill on fight week against Shakur Stevenson in February, then flattened Tevin Farmer inside a single round in June, before a wrist injury scrubbed a November date with JoJo Diaz. He's untested but dangerous, and the #7 lightweight ranking backs that up.
Bahdi's résumé reads better on first glance than on close inspection. The undefeated Canadian spiked his profile by handing Ashton Sylve his first loss, but a majority decision over Armando Casamonica on the Tyson-Paul card cooled the hype. His win over former 130-pound champ Roger Gutierrez sounds impressive until you note it was Gutierrez's sixth defeat, and that Gutierrez hasn't won outside a Venezuela hotel since August 2021.
On the Chicago undercard, Ricardo Sandoval defends his WBC and WBA flyweight titles against replacement Sergio 'Yoreme' Mendoza, after Oscar Collazo pulled out with a rib injury — a bout both sides want rebooked once Collazo heals. American Olympians Jahmal Harvey and Joshua Edwards also feature across the card and prelims.
Elsewhere in the week, Nashville's CountryBox slate is topped by unbeaten cruiserweight Craig Parker, 23-0 (22 KO), and London serves up a Misfits-flavored reality-TV main event in Joey Essex vs. Dapper Laughs. Both have won inside the ropes before, for whatever that's worth. Pick your night accordingly.
