Ruffy's stock exploded at UFC Freedom 250, the one-off card staged on the South Lawn of the White House. He drew Michael Chandler and delivered a spinning back kick and follow-up shots to close out the former Bellator champ in the first round — the kind of highlight that travels. Ruffy left The Fighting Nerds in Sao Paulo and relocated to Alexander Volkanovski's Freestyle MMA gym in New South Wales, working under head coach Brad Riddell alongside Frank Hickman. He described Volkanovski — the reigning featherweight champ at 28-4 — staying on the mats with him for two hours after his own sessions to drill positions, and called it one of the best and toughest camps of his life.

Ruffy trades on the nickname "One Shot" for a reason, but he's teasing a more rounded game after the Australia work, promising something new every time out. He said flatly that he intends to knock Arman out and that the finish itself will be his message for a title shot. Bold talk against a wrestler who's only lost three times — but if Ruffy pulls it off, the lightweight picture reshuffles in a hurry.
