The UFC is coming back to Toronto. The promotion confirmed during Saturday's UFC Edmonton broadcast that UFC 336 lands at Scotiabank Arena on Jan. 30 — the first time the company has run a show in the city since January 2024, and its eighth numbered event there overall.

No fights have been locked in yet, so the card is a blank slate. What's clear is the date, the building, and the pedigree. Toronto's last UFC night carried serious title weight, and the promotion is leaning on that history as it maps out early 2026.

The Last Time Out

That January 2024 card was a big one. Dricus du Plessis took the middleweight belt off Sean Strickland by split decision in a razor-thin main event, and Raquel Pennington beat Mayra Bueno Silva for the vacant bantamweight title in the co-main. Two championships changed hands in a single night — a tough act to follow.

UFC CEO Dana White framed the return as a partnership with the Ministry of Sport, saying he's eager to bring the promotion back and crediting Toronto with producing some of the company's biggest moments. Translation: expect a stacked announcement once matchmaking firms up.

Momentum From Edmonton

The news dropped on a night when Canadian welterweight Mike Malott flattened Joaquin Buckley in the main event — a knockout that resets Buckley's standing after he entered as the division's No. 10 contender, dropping to 21-9 (15 KO) following his decision loss to Sean Brady.

Elsewhere on the card, No. 7 flyweight Jasmine Jasudavicius (16-4) upset No. 4-ranked Erin Blanchfield (14-3) and called for a title shot against new champ Natalia Silva. Lightweight prospect Cristian Perez also impressed with a 27-second debut knockout of Kyle Nelson, who slipped to 17-8-1.

Edmonton gave the Canadian market plenty of reasons to stay tuned. If the UFC wants a local hook for January 30, it just produced a few — starting with Malott, who looked every bit the hometown headliner.
