Amanda Serrano is calling time on one of the most decorated careers in women's boxing. Her promoter, Most Valuable Promotions, confirmed Wednesday that Serrano — a 50-4 pro and seven-weight world champion — will defend her unified WBO and WBA featherweight titles against Skye Falzon on Jan. 9 at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan. It's her final fight, period.
The farewell lands at home, which is the whole point. Serrano is the only Puerto Rican boxer to hold undisputed status in the four-belt era, and she's framing the January card as a thank-you to the fans who followed her from small theater shows to the sport's biggest stages. She's dubbing it "The Last Walk," with the card streaming on DAZN.
A Career Built on Firsts
Serrano's résumé is stacked with milestones, but the headline act was her trilogy with Katie Taylor. Their first bout became the first women's boxing match to headline Madison Square Garden — a line that reads like a footnote now but was unthinkable when Serrano started. She spent years pushing for equal pay, equal rounds, and the same rules men compete under.
She acknowledged that work isn't finished. Serrano said she intends to keep fighting for the next generation of women even after she retires, and credited MVP's Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul for backing her and the women's game when the money and attention weren't there yet.
What Happens Next
Falzon steps in as the opponent for the send-off, a markedly different assignment than the Taylor saga that defined Serrano's late-career run. For Serrano, the result almost feels secondary to the setting — a champion closing the book in front of the crowd that's been there since the theater-show days.
What she leaves behind is a template. Women's boxing headlines arenas now, draws real purses, and gets prime billing on major cards. Serrano didn't do that alone, as she was quick to point out, but it's hard to tell the story of how far the sport has come without her name near the top.
