Asaf Chopurov Carries a Dagestan Blueprint Into UFC 333 at 11-0
The unbeaten bantamweight credits Khabib's discipline and a camp under Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov for a perfect 11-0 record built on 10 finishes.

Asaf Chopurov walks into UFC 333 with a spotless 11-0 record and a finish rate that does most of the talking for him. Ten of those 11 wins have come inside the distance — five by knockout, five by submission — which tells you he's not a decision merchant padding a number. He meets Colby Thicknesse on the Volkanovski vs. Evloev card as an unranked bantamweight with everything still in front of him.
The origin story is pure Dagestan. Chopurov says the first fighter who grabbed his attention as a teenager was Khabib Nurmagomedov, specifically the discipline Khabib carried himself with. At 14 or 15, that image stuck. It's a familiar pull for a generation of fighters who watched a lightweight from Makhachkala turn relentlessness into a 29-0 career.
Where the Path Took Shape
The bigger turning point, by his telling, came when he traveled to Dagestan and trained under Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov — Khabib's late father and the architect behind that camp's famously grueling style. Chopurov describes it as the motivation that locked him in. After that camp, he says, he simply fell in love with fighting, and that's why he's where he is now.
It's one thing to borrow a mindset. It's another to produce results that match it, and Chopurov's ledger does. A 91 percent finish rate across 11 pro fights is the kind of stat that separates a prospect worth watching from a name on a regional poster. Five submissions suggest the grappling base translated; five knockouts suggest he's more than a one-trick positional grinder.
The Test at UFC 333
Thicknesse is the gatekeeper for now, and a win would keep Chopurov's unbeaten run intact while nudging him toward the fringes of a bantamweight picture that's crowded but always hungry for finishers. At 135 pounds, momentum and a highlight reel go a long way, and he's got both.
The inspiration angle is nice copy, but the math is what should interest matchmakers. Undefeated, finishing almost everyone he faces, and schooled in a system that produced one of the sport's all-time disciplinarians. If he handles Thicknesse the way he's handled the rest, the unranked tag won't last long.
