Berlanga Wants Eubank Jr in London Before the Year Is Out

Edgar Berlanga has a target and a passport. The New Yorker, who owns 19 stoppage wins across his career, says he wants Chris Eubank Jr before the calendar flips to 2027 — and he's happy to fly to London to make it happen. Eubank Jr, ranked #8 at middleweight with a 35-4 (25 KO) record, hasn't fought since his wide unanimous-decision loss to Conor Benn back in April 2025.

Berlanga made the pitch on 'The Last Stand' podcast and then doubled down with The Ring, saying he'd rather chase the fight on Eubank's home turf than stage it stateside. His logic is simple: a Berlanga-Eubank card in the UK is a bigger event than one in America, and he wants the biggest version of it.

The call-out lands just days after Berlanga's Zuffa Boxing debut, where he stopped Steven Butler in the seventh round. It wasn't clean — he ate a knockdown in the second before rallying — but it got the job done and pushed his stoppage tally to 19. Not a bad way to introduce yourself to a new promotional home.

The Résumé Question

Berlanga's two career losses tell you exactly where he sits in the pecking order. He went the distance with Canelo Alvarez in 2024, dropping a unanimous decision to a man now sitting at 63-2-2 (39 KO) after his own loss to Terence Crawford. He also came up short against Hamzah Sheeraz, who has since climbed to WBO super-middleweight champion at 23-0-1. Losing to two of the division's best isn't a red flag — it's a ceiling being tested.

For Eubank Jr, the timing matters. He's been advised to abandon the middleweight grind and settle back into super-middleweight after that brutal Benn rematch, where a savage weight cut left him surviving on unsteady legs to the final bell. There's also a competing offer on the table: a 164lb catchweight bout with Michael Zerafa in Australia. Berlanga is openly hoping Eubank swerves that one in his favour.

Then there's the paperwork. Eubank Jr insists he's a free agent, but Boxxer promoter Ben Shalom appears to believe otherwise, suggesting their deal hasn't lapsed. Until that's sorted, any London date stays theoretical. Berlanga's willing to travel; the harder part might be figuring out who Eubank can actually sign with.
