Jake Paul is coming back on Christmas Eve. The 12-2 heavyweight will headline an MVP card on Dec. 24 in Dubai, nearly a year to the day after Anthony Joshua broke his jaw and handed him a sixth-round knockout loss. Paul needed multiple surgeries to repair the fracture, which makes the timing of this comeback either poetic or reckless, depending on how you squint.

The opponent isn't locked in yet, and neither is the broadcaster. MVP CEO Nakisa Bidarian said the promotion is still finalizing a name worthy of the return and promised details in the coming weeks. For now, Paul is selling the date and the city and little else.

The Streak Joshua Ended

Before Joshua (29-4, 26 KO) got hold of him, Paul had run off six straight wins. That stretch leaned heavily on names rather than prime opposition: a faded Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., plus MMA imports Nate Diaz and Mike Perry. It built the brand. It did not prepare him for a legitimate heavyweight puncher, and the jaw paid for the lesson.

Paul's career KO numbers tell the story of a boxer who wins on activity and matchmaking more than power. He's stopped seven of his 12 opponents, but the two losses came against the most credentialed names he's shared a ring with. Picking the right December opponent is the entire game here.

Santa Paul and the Sales Pitch

Paul leaned into the holiday theme in the announcement, declaring that Santa Paul is coming to Dubai and somebody's getting knocked out. He framed the comeback as the start of a new chapter and said nothing about the Joshua defeat has dented his belief in himself. He also talked up Dubai as a city that doesn't believe in limits, which is exactly the kind of line you write when you're still shopping for an opponent.

The real question is who signs the contract. A soft touch keeps the brand intact after a brutal stoppage; a real fighter risks a repeat of the Joshua night. Paul has built a career on daring people to doubt him, but at 12-2 with a surgically repaired jaw, the margin for a wrong pick has never been thinner.
