Cavalcanti Meets Undefeated Montague in Bantamweight Clash at UFC Qatar
No. 9 Jacqueline Cavalcanti takes on perfect 8-0 Michelle Montague in Doha on Nov. 21 — a ranked 135-pound scrap with real stakes.

The UFC has booked a genuine ranked tilt for its Doha card: Jacqueline Cavalcanti (10-2) draws undefeated Michelle Montague (8-0) in a women's bantamweight matchup on Nov. 21 at Ali Bin Hamad al-Attiyah Arena. Cavalcanti sits at No. 9 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings at 135 pounds, with Montague a couple of rungs below at No. 12, and both women carry top-15 slots in the UFC's own ledger.
Cavalcanti is trying to steady herself after a rough reset. She ripped off a 5-0 start inside the promotion before running into longtime contender Ketlen Vieira this past May, dropping a unanimous decision — the first loss of her UFC run. That fight exposed the gap between the division's established names and its rising ones, and now she gets a different kind of test.
Montague is the opposite story: nothing but wins. The former PFL standout went 2-0 out of the gate in the UFC with decisions over one-time title challenger Mayra Bueno Silva and Luana Carolina, both solid names at 135. Before arriving in 2025, she finished her first six pro bouts by rear-naked choke — a finishing streak that makes her a tricky out for anyone who lets the fight hit the mat.
Styles and Stakes
That's the subplot worth watching. Montague's résumé screams submission threat, yet her two UFC wins both went the distance — a sign the step up in competition has forced her to grind rather than finish. Cavalcanti, meanwhile, needs to prove the Vieira loss was a ceiling check and not a trend. A win over an unbeaten prospect would do exactly that and keep her inside the title conversation.
The UFC also locked in a welterweight bout for the same night, pairing Dom Mar Fan (9-3) with Nikolas Motta (15-6, 1 NC). Motta brings the deeper cage résumé by a mile, with 21 pro appearances to Mar Fan's 12.
Up top, UFC Qatar is headlined by a light heavyweight scrap between Jiri Prochazka and Navajo Stirling. But the Cavalcanti–Montague booking is the one that actually moves the 135-pound ladder. Win and you climb. Lose and you wait. For an undefeated fighter and a woman trying to bounce back, that's a cleaner stakes line than most cards get in November.
