Dong Guk Shin Outlasts Hyeon Bin Park in Road FC 78 War of Attrition

If you want the single most unhinged MMA fight of 2026, book a trip to South Korea. At Road FC 78, Dong Guk Shin and Hyeon Bin Park spent a round trying to knock each other into next week, trading knockdowns inside the opening 15 seconds and combining for three drops in roughly the first 75. Shin walked away the winner, though "winner" barely covers what happened.

This wasn't a technical masterpiece. Park scored a second knockdown about a minute in and looked like the fresher, sharper man early. But the fight was ultimately settled by whoever still had something in the tank when the round wound down, and that was Shin — head down, throwing hooks with abandon, ignoring cardio and control entirely. It shouldn't have worked. It did.

South Korea has a habit of producing this stuff. Chan Sung Jung — "The Korean Zombie" — built a legend on exactly this kind of forward-marching insanity across a 17-8 UFC-era career, and the country churns out a handful of these all-out brawls every year. On the grappling side, Chuy Rodriguez turned a slam into an arm-guillotine to finish Jarred Gonzales on his pro debut at LFA 240, while Ranna Cortez muscled Raissa Pacheco into a forearm choke at Shooto Brasil 139.

The knockout reel closed things out. Emil Kuzmich flattened Maxim Fedorov with an overhand right in Perm, amateur bantamweight Wayne Godfrey walked down Antonio Serafin for a first-round stoppage, and at Anthony Pettis FC 25 in Albuquerque, Andrew Alvara stepped on Julian Perez's foot before landing the finisher — cheeky, borderline, and legal in MMA. Armando Gutierrez Jr. beat Clark Ginn to the punch by a beat for a walk-off, and Aruba's Jeandrick Croes choked out Jared McLoughlin on the same card.
